Going to Washington? What a -watch this- CAPTIAL idea!

Die Ostküste ist groß, und unser Budget ist klein. Aber: der Chinatown Bus ist billig, und da sind Alex und ich gleich nach Washington, DC gefahren, um uns das mal anzusehen. Das Programm, wie üblich, besteht aus massiven 8 Stunden wandern und hoffentlich mal einen Kaffee trinken. Hier ein Protkoll, wie das so funktioniert hat.

The east coast is big, and our budget really is not. But the Chinatown Bus is cheap, and so we boarded it for a quick trip to Washington, DC. The program, as usual, was made of walking for 10 hours and maybe get some coffee. Here's how that worked out for us.

Washington has ONE major sight, and that is the "mall", the 4-mile stretch of land that reaches from Capitol Hill (Home of the Bill) to the Lincoln Memorial. It features the Washington Monument, the Smithsonian Institution, and some white house or something. After some delicious, nay, BRILLIANT tapas, we started our journey at the Capitol. (BTW, tapas must be the cruelest food on God's green earth, because they are both delicious and smal. When I grow up, I'll start a tapas bar where everything is king size.)

Washington hat nur eine Hauptattraktion, die sog. "Mall", einen 5-km-Park, der sich vom Kapitol bis zum Lincoln Memorial erstreckt und das Washington Monument, das Smithsonian, und so ein weißes Haus beherbergt. Nach ein paar leckeren, nein, BRILLIANTEN Tapashaben wir unsere Reise am Kapitol gestartet. (Übrigens sind Tapas das mit Sicherheit grausamste Essen auf Gottes grüner Erde, denn sie sind soo lecker UND sooo klein! Wenn ich mal groß bin, Himmel hilf, werde ich eine King Size Tapas Bar eröffnen...)


At the Smiths, they had an exhibit on American Memorabilia, where I ran into my big idol and ended up having a great conversation partner on my niveau.
Im Smithsonian gab es eine Ausstellung zum Thema "Amerikanische Memorabilia". Dort habe ich mein großes Idol getroffen und hatte gleich einen Gesprächspartner auf gleichem Niveau.

Also it had some space stuff, and Diz' horn.
Und es gab Weltraumkram und die Kanne von Diz.



Aber eine unterschätzte Sehenswürdigkeit ist diese: Der weltdünnste Kaffee!
But one of the most underrated sights is this: The world's most watery coffee! It doesn't smell like coffee, it doesn't look like coffee, and it most certainly doesn't taste like coffee. yet, somehow, they manage to call it coffee.

We laughed about it a long time.

Das Wahington Monument sollte teil eines großen Komplexes werden. Aber es war kein Geld mehr da, drum gab es nur den Obelisken.
